Now put yourself in Clover's shoes here for a moment. You're a short little guy with fourteen friends that are part of the same group as you, and suddenly another group shows up and starts killing your friends. All the while, you're so lucky that any lethal weapons will fail in one way or another. All your friends are dying around you, and the other group's guns jam if pointed at you. You're too lucky to die.

Sounds awful, right? I know Clover is happy-go-lucky, but that kind of thing could break the spirit of even the cheeriest people.
